Finish line

I've finally completed the 30 day challenge :) I hope you have enjoyed the journey as much as I did and that you perhaps have gotten to know a little bit more about myself and who I am. I've tried to be as open and honest as possible along the way. It has been quite time consuming I must admit, but definitely a fun experience and it has brought back a lot of good memories as well. Thanks for following me, you are the reason I keep this blog going. I love having visitors and I'm so happy for all the comments, keep them coming! ♥

Day 30 - My love

I so wish that I was happily in love and that I could tell you openly about my love in this blog post.

There has been a very special somebody in my life for quite some time and I fell for him as soon as we got to know each other. He's one of the most thoughtful and caring people I've ever met and he's so genuine. He cares about others to the extent that he tends to forget about himself sometimes. He has got a BIG heart and he always greets the world with a smile.

There is a very strong connection between us and for the first time in my life I've felt that "This is right, this is real". I can honestly say that he's the biggest love of my life yet and I'm so drawn to him. I love the way we can talk to each other about anything and the more I get to know about him, the more I want to know. I look up to him, he's fun to be around and he makes me laugh. He truly inspires me.

When I'm with him, he makes me feel so special and there is no doubt in my mind where his heart belongs. I wish we were together, that he could see the possibilities in the same way that I do. I wish he had the courage.

But the time has come to move on. I will have to believe that what is meant for you won't pass you by and that everything happens for a reason.

Day 28 – This is what I miss

I honestly think that I have everything in my life that I need, except for one thing; I really miss a partner, a friend for life, the big love of my life! I hope he'll come along soon because I miss somebody to share everything with, somebody to laugh with, somebody to love. ♥

Day 27 – My favourite place

My favourite place is without a doubt Åland :) I absolutely love the summers over there but also being there for Christmas. The last two Christmases we've had to be in Täby since my brother has worked, but finally we're celebrating Christmas in my aunties house this year again. It's the best tradition ever! Also the fish soup day is becoming more of a tradition when the whole extended family come over to the summer house one last time before we "shut down" for the winter :)

Day 26 - I swear! It's a true story!

This one is difficult, I had to think for a long time before I knew which story to tell you and this is the best I could come up with :)

My friend Elaine from Dublin was getting married to her Kenneth back in February 2007. I had booked flights to come over to Dublin for this big event and I was so looking forward to it. As you know, it can be quite snowy at this time of the year and this was the case when I was flying this day as well. I was flying from Stockholm to Copenhagen first, it was just a quick stop before I was going to jump on the next plane. Well, that is what I thought anyway..

Our flight from Stockholm in the morning was delayed for about 2 hours because of the snow so I started getting worried about catching the connecting flight in Copenhagen. Finally arriving in Copenhagen I ran across to the gate just to see my plane head out at the very second I got there :( I knew I wasn't gonna get my luggage if I had been able to get on that flight, but that didn't bother me so much. Oh well, now I didn't have to worry about that. Instead I had to go over to the service desk to have myself booked on the next flight to Dublin.

The weather was slowly getting worse and worse but I didn't think about it that much at this stage. Now I was just pissed off with the fact that I had to queue up together with hundreds of other people to get some help. It took about 2 hours before it was my turn, when the guy who served me told me that I had to wait until about 5pm that day for the next flight to Dublin it didn't exactly get me in a better mood. I had to kill some time so I bought a book to read and had some lunch.

Later on in the afternoon it was time to look at the screens for my flight to check which gate I was heading to. It felt like I had waited around forever. As soon as I saw my flight number I discovered that this flight was also delayed by half an hour. Oh well, half an hour is only half an hour. If I had waited all day for this flight, I could wait for another half hour. When it was time for boarding, they kindly informed us that the flight had been delayed for yet another half hour :( I started to completely lose my temper at this stage, but could do nothing else but wait. Finally we got to board the plane and I was so happy that we were on our way!

I made myself as comfortable as I could in my seat and was eager to take off. However, nothing happened for a good while and time was ticking away. After an hour on the plane, they informed us from cockpit that we just had to wait for another while since they were shovelling snow from the runway. About 30 minutes later there was a message from cockpit again but this time I could hear from the sound of the voice that they were not gonna have good news. They informed us that the whole airport was closing down, that the flight was cancelled and that we had to get off the plane :(

Frustrated as I was, I walked down to the arrivals section since we were told that they were gonna put us up for the night in a hotel. Since the whole airport was closing down and all flights were cancelled, you can imagine the amount of people that they had to take care of. I took a queue ticket and sat down to wait. I was getting really hungry at that stage and after a while I realised that it was gonna take a good while before I was gonna be taken care of. It was getting later and later and I figured that I would need to get something to eat.

The only place where they served food was a hot dog stand. I queued up and found myself placed in a looooong queue once again. I knew it was gonna take some time too, but reckoned it was gonna be worth it since I would finally get some food into me. After about 40 minutes I was getting closer and closer to the hot dogs but what do you think happens? The woman in front of me buys the last two hot dogs!!! I started crying like a baby, I'm not joking.. I was hungry, tired and fed up! Big time.

Anyway since I don't want to go on forever, I finally got put up in a hotel in the city centre of Copenhagen. After queuing in a taxi queue in the snow storm and sliding around in a taxi to the hotel, I finally got to the hotel and I was so starving I could only think about the food that they told us we'd be served upon arrival.  I was soon informed that they had stopped serving food since it was so late but then I screamed to the hotel staff that I was demanding food! Got some soup and sandwiches in the end before I tried to get some sleep for a few hours before it was time to get up again to get a taxi to the airport for a flight the next morning. Since there were not enough taxis in town the next day there was almost a physical fight to get into a taxi. Of course this flight was also delayed for about an hour but I finally got to Dublin about 28 hours later than planned. When I went to get my luggage in Dublin airport there were no bags to be seen.. How stupid am I, did I really think I was gonna get so lucky to actually find my luggage!? ;) This was a Thursday and the wedding was on the Saturday. It turned out I had to wait for my luggage for another 2 days before it arrived - one hour before the wedding! Since I couldn't rely on getting my luggage in time I had to shop for a new wedding outfit and loads of other stuff too, luckily I had the wedding present with me as hand luggage!

I will never forget this trip, what an adventure!! The wedding was beautiful though and we all had such a good time. Besides, all of the shopping I did was paid for by SAS ;)

Day 21 – A photo of me taken more than 10 years ago

Photo taken at my graduation 1998

Day 20 – Confessions of a shop-a-holic

Clothes, clothes and more clothes... I just can't stop buying clothes so I guess I have to admit that I'm a true shop-a-holic!

I started quite early but back then I didn't have that much money to spend on clothes. All the money I got for birthdays or from my monthly allowance I spent on clothes though. I remember that whenever I got home with my shopping bags, I used to try to hide them from mam ;)

I used to be addicted to jeans and had between 20-30 pairs at one stage, but I'm getting better these days. Well perhaps I shouldn't say I'm getting better, what I really mean is that I don't spend all my money on jeans but instead I buy dresses, blouses, jumpers, cardigans, shoes, bags and so on. I don't want to think about how much money I spend on clothes each year. I try not to walk around in the shops because that is when I just want everything and the thing is that the more I buy, the more I want to buy. Something is seriously wrong with me!!

My wardrobe is completely stuffed with clothes and even though I, on a regular basis, try to go through my clothes to see what I can give away, it's not enough. For many people such a wardrobe would be enough for two people but I think that the person who is going to live with me will have to be prepared to come up with other solutions ;) Sometimes I'm actually embarrassed with how much clothes I have got, the good thing is that I know I'm not alone with this problem (if you want to call it a problem) :)

Anyway I love wearing nice clothes so it's definitely worth it. Sometimes I just wish I could save a bit more rather than spending it all ;)

What's behind these doors? ;)

Are you impressed by the amount of hangers? ;)

Day 19 – My regrets

To be honest I try not to have any regrets in life. It takes too much energy to regret something and you don't gain anything by having regrets. Of course I've made mistakes in the past and I will probably make more mistakes in the future but each time you learn a lesson and you know you'll never make the same mistake again. My former boss said to me that It's ok to make a mistake once, as long as you don't make the same mistake twice and I agree with him. You should learn from your mistakes and I believe that they make you a stronger person in the end.

Day 18 – Memories of a birthday

Birthdays are great and I just love having friends around me on my birthdays. I don't need to do anything extraordinary and I don't need any presents but I wouldn't want to be without my friends and family on my birthday! I get so happy when I get birthday wishes from all kinds of people and it's nice to have one day when you get a bit of attention ;)

I've had a lot of lovely birthdays throughout the years and I don't know how to pick one, but I remember a particular birthday when we were in Gotland. It was in the summer of 2007 and me and the girls were in Visby for a week. My birthday is on the 20th of July so it's in the middle of the summer and we spent this full day on the beach. In the evening the girls brought me out for dinner and then we stayed in the same place and danced all night long. I was really happy and it's definitely a birthday to remember :)

Day 17 - My dreams

I dream about a lot of things, I think it's important to have dreams and goals in life. Currently I dream of:

- living a happy life
- finding true love
- having kids and starting a family
- buying a house with a big garden
- meeting a lot of interesting people

Day 16 – Friends from the past

I don't know if I should call this guy a friend as such but I just have to tell you about somebody that I just recently got in contact with after 12 years. In the summer of 1998 myself and Maria went to Kos to enjoy 2 weeks in the sun. It was in the beginning of July and I remember it being really hot over there, it was around 40 degrees!

We met a lot of different people over there and had a brilliant time. One of the guys was a bar rep and I think we bumped into him one of the first days. His name was Mattias and I liked him from the start. Obviously he was working nights and didn't get off until early in the mornings but somehow we managed to get some time together anyway.

I liked him a lot I remember, I wasn't the only one though.. Therefore we ended up fighting a bit while I was over there, it's not easy being that young ;) One of the days myself and Maria went to the beach Grabbarna Grus and found Mattias and his friends there. They had a beer competition and there was a looooong row of beer bottles along the beach. After a couple of hours Mattias ended up on all four in the water puking his guts out - I didn't feel sorry for him! I think he left the island shortly after and I never really thought of him again..

..until a couple of days ago when I stumbled upon a photo of him on the web. I looked at the photo and didn't recognize him instantly but I thought it was a familiar face for some reason. After a couple of minutes I realised who it was! I sent him an email asking him if he had been working in Kos about 12 years ago. He replied back and said that I was right. In the last few days we've been talking about old memories in Kos and we both think it's such a funny coincidence. It's a small world we live in :)

Day 15 – A favourite memory

This was more difficult than I thought it would be, how am I supposed to pick out a favourite memory!? I think I'm gonna go back to Åland and my summers there again, there are a few things that I will never forget.

We used to stay in my grandparents house and every morning me and my brother used to go out and pick strawberries in the garden that we would have for breakfast with milk and Kellogg's Rice Krispies - it was yummie :)

My grandparents when they were younger

Something I absolutely loved doing while being over there was to lay fishing nets. I was so fascinated by this and it was so exciting to go out in the morning to see if there was any fish caught in the nets. It was such an adventure and I had no problems getting up early those mornings ;) When we came back with the fish, mostly plaice and perch, I used to stay close to granddad watching him clean and gut the fish. Sometimes we used to go to a place to smoke the fish as well and I just loved the smell and it tasted so good :)
