Happy New Year

I want to wish everybody a very HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2010 has now come to an end and it's time to welcome 2011. I'm hoping for a fantastic new year with new possibilities and new beginnings. I'm now gonna take some time to reflect on 2010 and some of the things that I will remember from 2010 are:

- Celebrating New Years in Åre with Jessica, Maria and Vickan
- My trip to Thailand in January with my brother and his friends
- Joining the Sjung Nu choir
- The ski trip to Vemdalen with work
- Starting my blog Katja's corner
- Starting with scrapbooking
- The last minute trip to Rhodes with little L
- The heat wave we got here in Stockholm in July and the evenings we spent on the cliffs of Fredhäll
- The fabulous trip to Italy with Maria
- Kim and Lisa's wedding in August, what a beautiful day!
- Celebrating Christmas with our relatives in Åland again

I'm now leaving 2010 behind and I've got high hopes for 2011. Bring it on!

7 things about myself that you probably don't know

Some of you might know these things about me already, but I think that most of you at least don't know all of the things so I'm gonna give it a try:

1) When I was young I was on a TV program about Idre Fjäll. I was in ski school back then and they were filming me when I was going downhill showing my slalom skills ;) I should really try to get that film on a dvd.
2) There was a time in my life when I spent all of my spare time with the horses in the stable. I don't know how happy my parents were about this since it's quite an expensive hobby but like the lovely parents they are, they always drove me back and forth between the house and the stable. I even entered some competitions, both dressage and show jumping!
3) I've got two bigger scars, one from my appendix removal when I was about 8 or 9 and one from operating my knee when I was 14. They removed a lump in my knee that could have been cancerous but luckily it wasn't!
4) I was pretty good at German in school and pretty much aced all the tests. It's difficult to believe now because I can hardly say "Hi my name is.." in German ;) I've forgotten almost everything!
5) As a child I thought it was a very good idea to try to go down the stairs with a plastic horse on wheels!! Poor dad had to ring the hospital and when speaking to them he had to put them on hold as my mam was fainting ;)
6) I gained 10 kgs in 3 months when I went over to Ireland. I remember stepping on the scales when I came home for Christmas and got a shock when it showed 72 kgs!
7) I love watching dancing shows and programs on TV. I'm so fascinated by the incredibly skilled dancers and my favourite program is So you think you can dance!

So come on my lovely blog friends and readers, do me a favour and tag along. Share the link by leaving a comment or else just add the list in the comment field ;)

The Holiday

Don't you just love this movie, I could watch it over and over again!

Happiness is..

..to get into a bed with clean bed sheets after you've just had a shower :) Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!

Finish line

I've finally completed the 30 day challenge :) I hope you have enjoyed the journey as much as I did and that you perhaps have gotten to know a little bit more about myself and who I am. I've tried to be as open and honest as possible along the way. It has been quite time consuming I must admit, but definitely a fun experience and it has brought back a lot of good memories as well. Thanks for following me, you are the reason I keep this blog going. I love having visitors and I'm so happy for all the comments, keep them coming! ♥

Another Christmas layout

Before Christmas I created another layout with the material from Molly's scrapbooking December kit. The photos are from Christmas last year when we were in Täby.

Day 30 - My love

I so wish that I was happily in love and that I could tell you openly about my love in this blog post.

There has been a very special somebody in my life for quite some time and I fell for him as soon as we got to know each other. He's one of the most thoughtful and caring people I've ever met and he's so genuine. He cares about others to the extent that he tends to forget about himself sometimes. He has got a BIG heart and he always greets the world with a smile.

There is a very strong connection between us and for the first time in my life I've felt that "This is right, this is real". I can honestly say that he's the biggest love of my life yet and I'm so drawn to him. I love the way we can talk to each other about anything and the more I get to know about him, the more I want to know. I look up to him, he's fun to be around and he makes me laugh. He truly inspires me.

When I'm with him, he makes me feel so special and there is no doubt in my mind where his heart belongs. I wish we were together, that he could see the possibilities in the same way that I do. I wish he had the courage.

But the time has come to move on. I will have to believe that what is meant for you won't pass you by and that everything happens for a reason.

Day 29 – My dreams and ambitions

This topic is almost the same as one that I've written before about my dreams but I'll give it a go anyway. My dreams and ambitions are among other things the following:

- always having a job that I enjoy
- learning more about the ins and outs of SAP ;)
- perhaps becoming a SAP consultant one day
- staying healthy and always doing some exercising (any kind)
- learning more about photography
- learning more about scrapbooking and becoming better at it
- keeping an open heart and mind
- always being true to myself and the people around me
- staying as positive as possible at all times
- being able to inspire people
- being economically secure
- meeting the man of my life and keeping him :)
- having kids and being a good parent
- being truly happy

Christmas 2010

So full

I'm so full right now!! We've done nothing else but eat and drink since we got here, I can't even remember what it's like to be hungry ;) We've been to my auntie's house tonight for dinner, she had made a gorgeous fish gratin for us all and we were about 15 people. Now we're back in my other auntie's house again so we're sitting in the couch drinking wine and watching tv. We've had a great Christmas and it's so nice to be back to celebrate Christmas with the Hellman family. Benjamin seemed to enjoy it as well, he was scared of Santa Claus at first but when he started receiving a lot of Christmas presents he seemed happier. He had a big pile of them afterwards so there was a lot of unwrapping to do ;)

It's very windy right now and it has started to snow again, I hope it won't be as windy tomorrow when we're going back with the ferry. Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas with friends and family. Have to get back to the eating again, crisps and dip is on the table ;)

Day 28 – This is what I miss

I honestly think that I have everything in my life that I need, except for one thing; I really miss a partner, a friend for life, the big love of my life! I hope he'll come along soon because I miss somebody to share everything with, somebody to laugh with, somebody to love. ♥

Embellished envelope

I read a lot of scrapbooking blogs these days and get so inspired by all the beautiful creations. Kajsan's blog is one that I'm currently following and she had made such a lovely little envelope, you can find it here. Perfect if you want to give someone a little present or a message!

My result is not as good as hers of course but I'm still learning :)

Dinner in Rimini

Decided to create a layout with a photo from Rimini tonight. Maria and I went out for dinner one of the nights and had a gorgeous lasagne :)

Day 27 – My favourite place

My favourite place is without a doubt Åland :) I absolutely love the summers over there but also being there for Christmas. The last two Christmases we've had to be in Täby since my brother has worked, but finally we're celebrating Christmas in my aunties house this year again. It's the best tradition ever! Also the fish soup day is becoming more of a tradition when the whole extended family come over to the summer house one last time before we "shut down" for the winter :)

Me, my brother and my cousins at the table in my auntie's house

Santa Claus

My auntie, uncle, grandmother and cousin and lots of Christmas presents :)

Myself, Jonas and dad taking a boat trip

Maria and I at the summer house

My cousin posing ;)

New jacket

Last week I went to Bromma Blocks to buy a jacket I had seen in Vero Moda in a lovely olive green colour, love it!

Day 26 - I swear! It's a true story!

This one is difficult, I had to think for a long time before I knew which story to tell you and this is the best I could come up with :)

My friend Elaine from Dublin was getting married to her Kenneth back in February 2007. I had booked flights to come over to Dublin for this big event and I was so looking forward to it. As you know, it can be quite snowy at this time of the year and this was the case when I was flying this day as well. I was flying from Stockholm to Copenhagen first, it was just a quick stop before I was going to jump on the next plane. Well, that is what I thought anyway..

Our flight from Stockholm in the morning was delayed for about 2 hours because of the snow so I started getting worried about catching the connecting flight in Copenhagen. Finally arriving in Copenhagen I ran across to the gate just to see my plane head out at the very second I got there :( I knew I wasn't gonna get my luggage if I had been able to get on that flight, but that didn't bother me so much. Oh well, now I didn't have to worry about that. Instead I had to go over to the service desk to have myself booked on the next flight to Dublin.

The weather was slowly getting worse and worse but I didn't think about it that much at this stage. Now I was just pissed off with the fact that I had to queue up together with hundreds of other people to get some help. It took about 2 hours before it was my turn, when the guy who served me told me that I had to wait until about 5pm that day for the next flight to Dublin it didn't exactly get me in a better mood. I had to kill some time so I bought a book to read and had some lunch.

Later on in the afternoon it was time to look at the screens for my flight to check which gate I was heading to. It felt like I had waited around forever. As soon as I saw my flight number I discovered that this flight was also delayed by half an hour. Oh well, half an hour is only half an hour. If I had waited all day for this flight, I could wait for another half hour. When it was time for boarding, they kindly informed us that the flight had been delayed for yet another half hour :( I started to completely lose my temper at this stage, but could do nothing else but wait. Finally we got to board the plane and I was so happy that we were on our way!

I made myself as comfortable as I could in my seat and was eager to take off. However, nothing happened for a good while and time was ticking away. After an hour on the plane, they informed us from cockpit that we just had to wait for another while since they were shovelling snow from the runway. About 30 minutes later there was a message from cockpit again but this time I could hear from the sound of the voice that they were not gonna have good news. They informed us that the whole airport was closing down, that the flight was cancelled and that we had to get off the plane :(

Frustrated as I was, I walked down to the arrivals section since we were told that they were gonna put us up for the night in a hotel. Since the whole airport was closing down and all flights were cancelled, you can imagine the amount of people that they had to take care of. I took a queue ticket and sat down to wait. I was getting really hungry at that stage and after a while I realised that it was gonna take a good while before I was gonna be taken care of. It was getting later and later and I figured that I would need to get something to eat.

The only place where they served food was a hot dog stand. I queued up and found myself placed in a looooong queue once again. I knew it was gonna take some time too, but reckoned it was gonna be worth it since I would finally get some food into me. After about 40 minutes I was getting closer and closer to the hot dogs but what do you think happens? The woman in front of me buys the last two hot dogs!!! I started crying like a baby, I'm not joking.. I was hungry, tired and fed up! Big time.

Anyway since I don't want to go on forever, I finally got put up in a hotel in the city centre of Copenhagen. After queuing in a taxi queue in the snow storm and sliding around in a taxi to the hotel, I finally got to the hotel and I was so starving I could only think about the food that they told us we'd be served upon arrival.  I was soon informed that they had stopped serving food since it was so late but then I screamed to the hotel staff that I was demanding food! Got some soup and sandwiches in the end before I tried to get some sleep for a few hours before it was time to get up again to get a taxi to the airport for a flight the next morning. Since there were not enough taxis in town the next day there was almost a physical fight to get into a taxi. Of course this flight was also delayed for about an hour but I finally got to Dublin about 28 hours later than planned. When I went to get my luggage in Dublin airport there were no bags to be seen.. How stupid am I, did I really think I was gonna get so lucky to actually find my luggage!? ;) This was a Thursday and the wedding was on the Saturday. It turned out I had to wait for my luggage for another 2 days before it arrived - one hour before the wedding! Since I couldn't rely on getting my luggage in time I had to shop for a new wedding outfit and loads of other stuff too, luckily I had the wedding present with me as hand luggage!

I will never forget this trip, what an adventure!! The wedding was beautiful though and we all had such a good time. Besides, all of the shopping I did was paid for by SAS ;)

Wrapping xmas presents

I've just finished wrapping my xmas present, feels good. This year I decided to do my own tags :)
